Roston Chase was in ominous form, bludgeoning an unbeaten 67 off just 38 deliveries. One particular six in the 16th over sent shockwaves through the stadium. A Lungi Ngidi delivery found Chase’s sweet spot, and the ball rocketed over deep square leg, clearing the boundary with ease. The sheer force of the shot resulted in the ball shattering the window of a car parked outside the stadium.
This monstrous maximum marked Chase’s maiden T20I fifty, and he celebrated the feat by soaking in the thunderous applause from the crowd.

West Indies posts a commanding total
Earlier, Brandon King (36 off 22) also played a crucial knock to propel the Windies to a strong total of 207/7 in their 20 overs. South Africa’s bowlers struggled to contain the Windies’ onslaught, with Andile Phehlukwayo, Nqaba Peter and Lungi Ngidi managing just two wickets apiece.
South Africa falls short despite early promise
In reply, South Africa got off to a decent start with contributions from Quinton de Kock (41) and Reeza Hendricks (34). However, they couldn’t maintain the momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals.
Gudakesh Motie emerged as the pick of the West Indies bowlers, scalping three crucial wickets for just 22 runs. Chase, Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd also chipped in with a wicket, restricting the Proteas to 191/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
With this convincing victory, the home team has taken a 2-0 lead in the six-match T20I series. The next match will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
