IPL Mega auction Day 1 Highlights : Big value to Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer, Pooran became the highest bid for a West Indies player in the IPL auction history

Today is the first day of the player auction for this year’s Indian Premier League.

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, considered to be the highest commercial value Premier League in the world, has taken on a new face.

This is due to the fact that two new teams have joined the IPL, which previously had only eight teams playing, bringing the total number of teams to 10.

A total of 1,214 players have registered for the IPL 2022 player auction and 590 selected players will be put up for auction at the IPL Mega Auction today. 41 West Indies players had initially registered for the IPL tournament this year and 34 of them have been selected for this year’s mega auction,

#1 Nicholas Pooran

On the first day, West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran was picked up by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 10.75 crore in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. For Pooran, interest was shown by SRH and Kolkata Knight Riders, and in the end, the left-handed batter went to SunRisers. it was the highest bid for a West Indies player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 so far.

Pooran who was part of the Punjab Kings team since 2019, was the fourth highest six hitter in the 2020 IPL season as he hit 25 sixes altogether in the season.

#2 Shimron Hetmyer

Earlier, 25-year-old West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.50 crore.

Hetmyer was released by the Delhi Capitals (DC) while Padikkal was let go by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Earlier in the day, the 2008 champions had also bought Ravichandran Ashwin for Rs 5 crore.

#3 Jason Holder

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder on Saturday was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 8.75 crore in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 Mega Auction here in Bengaluru.

#3 Dwayne Bravo

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was sold to Chennai Super Kings for Rs 4.40 crore during IPL 2022 auction Day 1 in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The 38-year-old Trinidadian was retained by the CSK after a bidding war with Delhi Capitals.

The IPL 2022 mega auction is being held in Bengaluru and it is a two-day event that will get over on Sunday.

Ishan Kishan became the most expensive buy so far after Mumbai Indians picked him up for Rs 15.25 crore on Day 1 of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in the history of IPL auction as he was sold for Rs 10 crore to Lucknow Super Giants.
