‘Bollywood has been calling my name in recent times’ – Former West Indies Star batter Chris Gayle opens up on acting ambitions

Former West Indies batter Chris Gayle is widely regarded as one of the most explosive batters of his time. The 44-year-old, in his prime, put forth sensational performances even against the best of bowlers.

From his performances in the IPL to international cricket, Gayle has made his name known throughout the world. However, after his retirement from the sport, he has been enjoying many avenues.

Apart from his talent for music, the former batter recently came forward to reveal that Bollywood has been calling for him. Expressing his interest in acting, Gayle opined that Bollywood is something special for him to look forward to.

“Bollywood has been calling my name in recent times, and I’m pretty familiar with the movie industry in India. Recently, I did a commercial over there in India with a Bollywood actor, and it’s something special to look for from the Universe Boss in the near future,” Gayle told IndiaToday.

Gayle also talked of his music album ‘Tropical House – Cruises to Jamaica’ that has been sent to the Grammy Awards 2024. Speaking of the same, he stated how proud he was that his album had reached the Grammy Awards for consideration.

“Firstly, I feel really good to be the face and headliner of the album, and I’m proud of the fact that it has entered into the 2024 Grammy race for Best Reggae Album. The album has several big names, such as Grammy Winners Ms.Lauryn Hill, Morgan Heritage and reggae giants, Capleton and Sizzla,” Gayle said.

Furthermore, the cricketer also touched on how he is taking the same route as all-rounder Dwayne Bravo in music. Gayle opined that he is great friends with Bravo, and they both share a passion for music.

“Bravo and I are great friends. We are both passionate about music, especially since we come from the islands. It’s just about having fun and highlighting our culture in each song we curate for our fans. I will always have a hand in the sport of cricket, no matter the other industries I may venture into, because cricket is my life and the game has done so much for me,” Gayle said
