The first ODI of Ireland’s tour of the West Indies will be played tomorrow (8) at Sabina Park in Jamaica. ( 9.30am JAM / 10. 30 am Eastern Caribbean )
West Indies lost the recently conducted bilateral T20I series against Pakistan by a margin of 0-3. The one day international form of the Caribbean side is better comparatively. Last year, they had won against Sri Lanka in the 3 match ODI series by 3-0 and lost a 3 match ODI series against Australia by a margin of 1-2.
Nicholas Pooran is in good form with the bat. He will play a key role in the upcoming series for West Indies. Kieron Pollard is also making a comeback as captain in the ODI series.
Alzarri Joseph had been missed terribly in the recent times and is making a comeback with the series. He will play an important role with the ball in hand.
Ireland, on the other hand, played two T20Is against USA before COVID-19 hit them and the remainder of the tour was canceled. The first game of the two-match T20I series was won by USA whereas the Irish side came back hard to level the series in the following game.
Andrew Balbirnie will continue to lead the side. Ireland have been good in the 50-over format in recent times.
Ireland’s only 50-over warm-up match in the West Indies series was played at Sabina Park on Wednesday (05) against Jamaica Scorpions and Ireland lost by five wickets to Them.
