Royals Sports Group-owned franchise Barbados Royals of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) today revealed their coaching staff for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League 2022 season.

THEY announced on Friday that West Indies assistant and bowling coach Roddy Estwick has been appointed as the team’s primary assistant coach ahead of the league this season.

Estwick, who has represented Barbados in both First Class and List A divisions, is a renowned name in the field of coaching, having served the West Indies Men’s Team in multiple roles of fast bowling coach and assistant coach in the past and helping them transform into a successful T20 side.

In addition to Estwick’s hiring, Andrew Richardson, a former Jamaican pacer, will stay on with the squad in a dual capacity as team manager and assistant coach.

With Sid Lahiri, the Royals’ Head of Academy Coaching, serving as Assistant Coach for the CPL 2022 season, Barbados Royals will gain from its partner team Rajasthan Royals’ second-place result in the IPL 2022 season.

Kumar Sangakkara Delighted To Have Skillful Set Of Coaches For Upcoming CPL Season

“We are delighted to have secured a very knowledgeable and skilful set of coaches for the upcoming season of the CPL.

At the Royals, our aim is to create an overarching coaching structure which can extend to the CPL, with the likes of Trevor, Sid, Giles, Panish and Rajamani, who have gained immense experience and had excelled as a unit in the IPL earlier this year.

“These coaches, combined with the talent, local grasp and familiarisation of the ecosystem possessed by Roddy, Andrew, Neil and Sharon, along with their long-standing association with the CPL and Barbados, will form the core coaching staff for the 2022 season.

We’re excited to have them all on board and look forward to achieving our goals this year,” said Sangakkara in an official statement.

On September 1 at Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, the Barbados Royals, led by South African David Miller, will open the CPL 2022 season against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
