Rahul Tripathi, Priyam Garg, Nicholas Pooran and Umran Malik emerged as the star performers from the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they defeated Mumbai Indians by 3 runs in the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday evening. With this win, SRH remain alive in the play-offs race.
Batting first, SRH recovered from an early blow with Priyam Garg and Tripathi leading a solid recovery.
Rahul Tripathi top-scored for SRH with 76 off 44 balls, opener Priyam Garg smashed 42 off 26 deliveries, while Nicholas Pooran blazed away to 38 off 22.
With Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 193 for six against Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League match here on Tuesday.
Pooran played his role to perfection as well scoring 38 runs in 22 balls but it was Tripathi’s knock that stole the limelight.
However, Ramandeep Singh took two wickets in an over and finished with 3/20 from his three overs to lead a strong comeback for MI in the death overs.
SRH looked set for a 200-plus total at one stage but managed just 29 runs in the final four while losing four wickets as well.
Chasing 194, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided MI with a solid start.
The pair have added 95 runs for the first wicket, before the pair were removed in quick succession.
Rohit departed for 48(36), while Ishan was dismissed for 43(34).
The Mumbai innings also featured a massive 26-run over, which saw Tim David hit T Natarajan for four huge maximums before he was run-out in the final ball.
Umran Malik was sensational with the ball as he claimed three wickets while, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was once again economical with his bowling which put pressure on Mumbai Indians who once again witnessed a mini-collapse after the 10th over.
Excellent final over from Fazalhaq Farooqi as Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to keep their playoff hopes alive here.
They live to fight another day but at one moment it seemed like Tim David will blow them away.
