“I want to do my best for the team ” – Jason Holder, Windies look to take 2-0 lead in the series

West Indies will take on England at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados in the 2nd T20I of England tour of West Indies, 2022 on Sunday, 23 January 2022.

West Indies beat England by nine wickets in the first T20 international to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series and they will be looking to continue from where they left off in the first game and inflict more misery on their opponents.

Jason Holder took 4-7 as the tourists were bowled out for 103, Brandon King then hit an unbeaten 52 as the hosts eased to victory with 17 deliveries to spare

After Sheldon Cottrell removed opener Jason Roy, who made a hundred in England’s lone warm-up match, fellow paceman Holder struck twice in two balls to dismiss Tom Banton and Moeen Ali.

Holder ensured England were bowled out in 19.4 overs as he removed Saqib Mahmood and Adil Rashid in successive deliveries.

England surpassed their record low T20 total of 80 thanks mainly to an eighth-wicket stand of 36 between Chris Jordan (28) and Rashid (22).

Holder commented on the match at a post-match press conference. There he said that everything went right for them.

“I just think everything clicked for us. Things went our way today and the guy is really around with it. I think in the past we probably would have let up and ease up in a bit, but I was really happy to see the guys still keeping the pedal to the medal and trying to finish it in his off. They think that was really commendable that each and every individual.” he said

He also commented on his best bowling and said that he wanted to do his best for his team and that the previous two matches against Ireland had not been as he wanted them to be.

” It’s a great achievement. playing, I just want to do my best for the team. The last couple of performances for me personally haven’t gone according to plan For me. I’ve been working on a few things trying to add a few things to my game and I just see a click for me tonight. I still think I’ve got a lot of work left to be done and for me. it just will keep working hard. The hard work never stops and the game keeps moving, so I just need to continue to move to the game.” Holder added

He added that a good start to the tournament was essential they hoped to win the tournament. Also He noted that the team had not had a good time in the past and needed to think a little more about cricket. He concluded by saying that in order to be stable, one must work hard and find ways to improve.

” we’ve got a lot more hard work put in to be consistent. Consistency has probably played Westminster cricket over the years and we don’t want to keep falling into that trap. So just got to find ways to keep improving.”
