“He batted against England with an injured finger. He’s a champion. That attitude is amazing.”- Kraig Brathwaite talk about Kemar Roach

The hosts won the first match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and the West Indies. The West Indies skipper won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first.

Bangladesh was all out for 103 in the first innings while the West Indies were all out for 265 in their first innings. Bangladesh started the second innings 162 runs behind, scoring 245 in their second innings to give the West Indies a target of 84 and the west indies complete out for just three wickets.

Fast bowler kemar Roach and skipper Kraig Brathwaite shone for the West Indies, helping them to a seven-wicket victory in the first Test against Bangladesh.

After the match, the captain commented on the match, praising Roach for playing with an injury.  He added that his attitude adds a lot of value to the team.

“As a group, we batted over 100 overs. Would have liked more runs but it was a good effort. The coaching staff is doing a very good job, Roach is leading from the front on and off the field.”
He added

“The lines and lengths we bowled – it was superb and that set the tone. He is everything. He batted against England with an injured finger. He’s a champion. That attitude is amazing. He adds a lot of value to the team.”

The Bangladeshi bowler also bowled challengingly for the West Indies.  West Indies lost 03 wickets for 09 runs in the second innings but John Campbell and Jermaine Blackwood took control of the West Indies innings.  Both assured their team of 7 wickets without any hindrance.  Campbell was unbeaten on 58 and Blackwood on 26.

“As a group, we are looking forward to the challenge. Kudos, their bowlers were disciplined and they challenged us. We got to come with a full mind for the last Test match. Very pleasing to see that fifty . Bonner’s doing a good job, he got a hundred against England. Full confidence on him, not the best start, but Test cricket is never easy.”
