Kieron Pollard lent forward and sang the opening lines of Sizzla’s Solid As A Rock at the post-match presentation, celebrating a series win that West Indies desperately needed. It felt like the start of a recovery.
Only two weeks ago, West Indies’ limited-overs side were at a low ebb. With they not been able to defence of the T20 World Cup and 2-1 defeat at home to an Ireland side. “It’s a sad day for us and sad day for West Indies cricket,” he said.
After the Series Win at post-match Presentation West Indian Skipper Kieron Pollard shared his thoughts. he says that everyone in the dressing room have worked tirelessly and Win the T20 Series against England was a always special one.
“It’s wonderful. Many have given up on this team, but every single individual has rallied around. There have been a lot of negative things written about us, but this win is for everyone out in the dressing room. They have worked tirelessly coming from Jamaica (after the Ireland series) and have bounced back pretty well,” said Pollard.
“We now have an understanding as to how to get the game going. We have come close to winning several times before, but came short at times.
“We have learnt from all these things. This was a virtual final, so runs on the board are crucial. Whatever (total) we get, we can add 10-15 runs tagged to the pressure,” said the skipper.
Holder and Hosein were the standout performers and the duo ensured that the hosts end up winning the series. Earlier, Pollard and Rovman Powell played unbeaten knocks of 41 and 35 to help West Indies post 179/4 in the allotted twenty overs.
“We started well (with the ball), did stall in the middle, but I thought we did well in the last four overs. everything we tried came off pretty well, Akeal at the start and spinners in the middle, and I thought Brandon (King) had a great series.”
Holder’s four wickets in four balls in the final over turned the game on its head.
You can’t keep Holder out of the game. Akeal was good and so was Odean, despite what has been written about him. His three overs at the top were crucial. As I said before, it was a complete team effort,” he added.
“Yes, it’s one series, but we have been on the losing end of a lot of series and a lot of games,” Pollard said. “It was a total team effort. Everyone rallied at some point in time. The guys really, really worked hard and, thank God, we came out victorious.”
The first captain in history to start his post-match interview with a song? 😀🎶
