An unbeaten half-century from Roston Chase 54 (58) could not prevent West Indies from their second loss in the warm-up matches of the T20 World Cup.

Coming in at just the second ball of the chase after Lendl Simmons fell to Mohammad Nabi, Chase saw the offspinner pick Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer in the same spell.

As they slipped to 27/3, Chase began the repair job even as Nicholas Pooran (35 off 26) tried to up the gears at the other end. With Afghanistan’s spinners doing an adequate restrictive job, the total of 189 proved to be too much for West Indies.

Afghanistan were helped to that imposing total thanks to quickfire fifties from both their openers – Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad – who set up the innings with a 90-run stand off just 53 balls.
