WI vs BAN, Possible Playing XI’s For 3rd ODI: West Indies will look to end it on a positive note with a better performance in the third ODI.

West Indies and Bangladesh will clash in the third ODI on Saturday, July 16. This is the final match of their three-match series, with Bangladesh having sealed the series 2-0 coming into this contest.

Bangladesh registered a six-wicket win in the first ODI and backed that up with a nine-wicket win in the next.

After presenting a tremendous show in the Tests and T20Is, things have gone south for the West Indies in the one-day series. They have failed to cross the 150-mark for the second time. Their performance in the second game was poorer compared to the first.

Bangladesh bowlers were impressive once again, as they bowled out the West Indies for just 108 in 35 overs.

Mehidy Hasan picked up four wickets, while Nasum Ahmed picked up three.

The visitors set up the game nicely once again courtesy of a brilliant display with the ball.

Their batters then made light work of the chase to wrap up the game in just 20.4 overs, with captain Tamim Iqbal scoring an unbeaten fifty to lead from the front.

With the series already lost, West Indies will look to end it on a positive note with a better performance in the third ODI.

Their batters will have to rise to the occasion to challenge the upbeat visitors in the final game to salvage some pride.

The visitors, have now beaten the West Indies five times in as many games and continue to enjoy a successful run in the one-day format recently. They are likely to beat the hosts once again and complete a 3-0 clean sweep.

“We are very disappointed. We can’t make any excuses. We have to find a way to counteract these spinners. The boys are trying, but it is very important to find a way to go forward. We got one more game to play, we continue to learn.” West Indies bowling coach Roddy Estwick

West Indies have lost 10 out of 14 ODIs this year, and they haven’t beaten Bangladesh in this format since December 2018.

WI vs BAN 2nd ODI Highlights: West Indies couldn’t handle spin again, Bangladesh Win, Seal Series

Bangladesh defeated West Indies by nine wicket to win the second ODI and take unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Beaten by six wickets in the first match at the same venue on Sunday, Bangladesh made West Indies bat first and bowled out the home side for 108 in 35 overs on Wednesday, and then took less than 21 overs to reach the target comfortably in a nine-wicket win.

Bangladesh’s array of spin bowling talent combined to skittle the West Indies for just 108 with the visitors now heavily favoured to complete a series-clinching victory in the second one-day international of a three-match series at the Guyana National Stadium on Wednesday.

West Indies couldn’t handle spin again, as man of the match Nasum Ahmed (3-19) took his first ODI wickets to start the West Indies collapse and Mehidy Hasan Miraz finished the rout with 4-29.

The home side rode some early luck when openers Kyle Mayers survived a messed-up stumping chance off Mehidy, and Shai Hope overturned an lbw decision to Nasum but the batters didn’t last much longer.

Mayers was bowled by Mosaddek Hossain trying to defend on the front foot, before Shamarh Brooks was bowled by Nasum for his first ODI wicket in his second match.

Mosaddek caught Hope who mishit an attempted slog sweep, and in the same over Nasum got captain Nicholas Pooran dragging on.

West Indies were 4-45 and Nasum had 3-9 from six overs, three of them maidens.

Mosaddek bowled out his 10 overs by the 25th over, taking 1-37, but the pressure he and Nasum built led to West Indies taking more frustrated swings.

Rovman Powell was out for 13 trying to flick medium-pacer Shoriful Islam, and Brandon King charged and missed Mehidy to be bowled on 11.

In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target in just 20.4 overs.

Tamim finished the game with his seventh boundary to be 50 not out off 62 balls for his 53rd ODI fifty, while Litton was 32 not out off 27 with six boundaries. Gudakesh Motie got the wicket of Najmul Hossain Shanto.

At the post-match presentation West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran :

“Tough, tough day. We didn’t show up as a batting group. We need to sit and chat about how we need to play ODI cricket. Obviously, the conditions didn’t help us today but whenever we get good batting tracks, we need to plan how to bat better in this format. Difficult to say (about the par score) as the wicket gets better as the day progresses. Losing the toss, it was challenging for the batters. We need to find different ways to score. The guys tried but it didn’t work. Definitely we need to bat properly, to win games we have to put runs on the board and need to find a way to play ODI cricket better. Need to stick together and hopefully we can get better. Toss does play a big factor. It’s about accepting challenges and showing fight.”

T20 World Cup Qualifier, SIN vs USA, Highlights : USA one win away from creating history in cricket

USA qualified for the semi-finals with victories on the second day of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier B.

They need one more win on Friday to qualify for a cricket World Cup for the first time.

The prize is a place at the T20 World Cup in Australia in October, and another victory in the semifinals will clinch it for the USA.

USA openers Steven Taylor and Monank Patel were dropped in the first and second overs of the innings respectively and they made the most of the opportunities by laying a solid foundation. At the end of the powerplay, the USA were 72 for none.

It was after the powerplay stage that Singapore made inroads with the wickets of Monank and Aaron Jones.

Taylor, too, followed suit after contributing a crucial 31-ball 58.

However, the fall of wickets did not affect USA’s scoring rate with attacking batter Jaskaran Malhotra taking charge.

In his 33-ball stay at the crease, he smashed 58 runs, including two fours and four sixes.

USA finished on a strong 201/6 — their highest T20I team total.

In reply, Saurabh Netravalkar’s dream spell ripped Singapore’s line-up apart.

First, he struck twice on the first two deliveries he bowled and finished the same over with another scalp a 3-wicket maiden over.

In his next over, he added another wicket to his tally. While Cameron Stevenson chipped away with one wicket, leaving Singapore teetering at 22/5 by the end of the powerplay.

The damage was already done as Singapore struggled to fight back, and continued to lose wickets.

They were bowled out for 69 in 15.2 overs, with the USA securing their second win of the tournament. Netravalkar finished with 5/12 the best figures in men’s T20Is for the USA.

The U.S. has easily beaten Jersey and Singapore in its first two games at a qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe.

“I can’t ask for any more as a captain on the field” – Nicholas Pooran

Due to rain, the match was limited to 41 overs and the West Indian players, who batted first, scored 149 runs for the loss of 09 wickets. In batting, Sharmarh Brooks scored 33 runs, Anderson Phillip 21 runs and Nicholas Pooran scored 18 runs.

Bangladesh scored 151 runs for the loss of only 04 wickets in 31 overs and won easily by six wickets. Mahamudullah 41 runs, Najmul Shanto 37 runs and Tamim iqbal 33 runs. Hossain, Motty and Puran shared one wicket each.

However, captain Nicholas Pooran said after the match that he is hopeful about the tournament as there are two more matches left.

“We know Bangladesh has had us in the last couple of series, but that’s OK. I feel like we’re still gonna win this series. We’ll get the opportunity to come again on Wednesday. We just need to continue believing, staying in the fight.”

The skipper believed that Shai Hope was the best batsman in the team and his early dismissal in the first match was a major reason for the change in the match.

“He’s our best batsman in this format and losing him first ball tough. But we know the guy, we know he’s gonna come back.”

He believes that the team’s fielding is a reflection of the fact that it is currently at a very good level. He asked the management and coaching staff, fans, media and everyone to continue to support the team.

“We definitely have been fielding better as a group – taking catches, diving around. It is a really young team. We reflect a lot, we do a lot of homework and we’re trying to get better as a team and as cricketers.”

As well as,

“You see the guys running around with energy and I can’t ask for any more as a captain on the field. I just hope that we can continue to learn, we could continue to get the support of the management and the coaching staff, the fans, the media, and everyone. Just continue to back us and I believe we will do brilliant things in the future.”

Gudakesh Motie was lucky to play his debut match at home. He took his first ODI wicket there and managed to finish with figures of 1-18 in 9 overs.

“Fantastic getting his opportunity in front of his home crowd and he delivered, unfortunately on the losing side. We’re expecting him to continue to bowl like this, not only in this series but in the future.”

Alzarri Joseph to replace Phillips? Predicting West Indies’s likely playing XI for the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh

The 2nd ODI of the Bangladesh Tour of West Indies, 2022 will take place on the 13th of July 2022 between West Indies and Bangladesh at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

The Tamim Iqbal-led side have beaten the hosts West Indies in the 1st ODI by six wickets and have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. the hosts would be looking for a comeback.

It was the batting that let the Nicholas Pooran-led side down in the first ODI. The aggressive batting approach backfired on the hosts as they could score only 149.

Barring Shamrah Brooks, no batter showed application. Skipper Pooran would be hoping the batters much batter in the second and decider ODI.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. The game was reduced to 41 overs a side due to rain.

West Indies lost Shai Hope early on followed by the huge wicket of Kyle Mayers. The middle order couldn’t do much damage and kept losing their wickets at important moments. Shamarh Brooks fought well with his knock of 33 in 66 balls.

The West Indies innings never really took off as they lost too many wickets in the middle overs.

Had it not been about the 10th wicket partnership of 39 runs between Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip, West Indies were staring down at a total less than 120.

Eventually, they managed to get 149 for 9 in 41 overs.

During the chase, West Indies managed to remove the opener Liton Das cheaply.

Post that, Tamim Iqbal and Nazmul Hossain Shanto played really well and took their team out of troubled waters.

Shanto made 37, while Tamim Iqbal scored 33 off just 25 balls. Mahmudullah played a skipper’s knock at number 4 and scored 41 not out to take his team home in the 32nd over with 6 wickets in hand.

“I can start back doing well for West Indies in ODI cricket.” – Nicholas Pooran hope back to his own form

Bangladesh, after a series of failures across formats, managed to register a win in the rain-marred first one-day international against West Indies at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, on Sunday.

After having limited the hosts to 149 for 9 in the 41-over-a-side contest, Bangladesh chased down the total with six wickets in hand and 9.1 overs to spare.

Several senior players of the West Indies team have retired and the current team consists of newcomers. Accordingly, the captain explained that we should play patiently as a team. Skipper Pooran shared his thoughts at the pre-match press conference.

“There are a lot of new guys in the team. I think we definitely need to play together more as a group and just have patience.”

Also,

“I just think that the ODI format is in between the Test and the T20, and mindsets keep changing. I think we just need to get the right mindset, the right template for this format, and stick with it for a bit.”

The West Indies team managed to spread its dominance throughout the tournament. The West Indies team managed to win the two Test matches 2-0 and the Twenty20 series 2-0.

The visitors could not win any of the five matches Played and the first Twenty20 match was abandoned due to rain.

“We’re looking forward to this Bangladesh series to settle on the right things and hopefully we’re successful at the end of the three games.”

West Indies beat the Netherlands 3-0 in Pooran’s first tournament as captain last month, but suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Pakistan.

West Indies have won only three of their last 10 ODIs and they have lost their last Four ODIs against Bangladesh. He also mentioned that the batsmen are repeatedly discussing how to negate the threat of Bangladesh spin.

Cradit: Cricket West Indies

“We’re just taking it ball by ball. We spoke as a group in the T20 how we want to play and we had a chat again today about how we want to play their spinners in this ODI series.”

As well as,

“We’re hoping that goes well and we won’t have this conversation [about playing spin] after this series.”

He also talked about the visitors’ players and said that their players are very good players.

“It’s all about discipline from our side and trying our best to stick to our game plans. We need to play the game the right way. They have good players as well and we need to respect that they are good players.”

However, the last few ODIs were not very successful for Skipper and he managed to score only 24 runs in three innings against the Netherlands and 57 runs in three more matches against Pakistan.

“It can be anyone’s game on the day. So we just need to continue doing the right things for a long period of time and we’ll be fine.”

He talked about his past style of playing here. Accordingly, they said that he needs to regain the right mentality of batting

“I’ve felt for the last six to nine games I haven’t performed for West Indies in the batting in the ODI format, and that is one of my favorite formats as well.”

And,

“I just need to get back the right mindset, how to bat in 50-over cricket. I think, once I can get that right mindset again, I can start back doing well for West Indies in ODI cricket.”
