The Chennai Braves stunned table toppers Deccan Gladiators in match 18 of the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League on Tuesday, November 29.
Carlos Brathwaite’s cameo went a long way in helping Chennai Braves to a six-wicket win over Deccan Gladiators.
This was the Braves’ second win in five games and with this victory, they have trumped the Northern Warriors on the back of a superior net run rate.
chasing 109 for win at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Braves chased down without much fuss, with opener Dan Lawrence top-scoring with 40 from 18 deliveries and Brathwaite belting a 7-ball 27 at number three.
While Lawrence, who counted four fours and two sixes, put on 34 for the first wicket with Dawid Malan (10), it was his 40-run, second-wicket partnership with Brathwaite which really propelled the chase.
Brathwaite, slammed four sixes before dragging on to fast bowler Zahoor Khan early in the sixth over.
Earlier, The Chennai Braves opted to bowl first after winning the toss but it took 38 deliveries for them to achieve their first breakthrough. Deccan Gladiators’ openers Jason Roy and Tom Kohler-Cadmore formed a partnership of 79 runs, with the former smashing an unbeaten 57 off just 33 balls with nine fours to his name.
His partner was even better, scoring 40 runs off 19 balls during his stay in the middle.
However, the Gladiators didn’t get the desired finishing kick and Andre Russell (four) nor Nicholas Pooran (one) made much of an impact as Gladiators were held to 108 for three from their 10 overs.
